You confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the capacity to enter into a legal agreement. Where you act on behalf of a family or estate, you represent that you have the appropriate authority to do so.

3. Service Description

Zaman Legal provides estate and inheritance legal services in Malaysia, including:

  • Estate and will consultation, covering wills, faraid, and estate distribution planning (from RM 290).
  • Probate and administration support, including grant of probate and letters of administration applications (from RM 640).
  • Complete estate handling package from initial meeting to final distribution (from RM 1,110).

Services are available to persons with matters in Malaysia. The Firm does not represent that all services are appropriate for every situation; suitability is assessed at consultation.

4. Engagement of Services

A formal solicitor-client relationship is only established upon the signing of an Engagement Letter confirming the scope of work, fees, and applicable terms. Submitting an enquiry through this website or attending an initial consultation does not in itself create a solicitor-client relationship.

We reserve the right to decline to act for any prospective client at our discretion and without providing a reason, in accordance with professional obligations.

5. User Responsibilities

When using this website or engaging our services, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information when requested.
  • Notify us promptly of any change in circumstances relevant to your matter.
  • Not use this website for any unlawful purpose or in a way that infringes the rights of others.
  • Not attempt to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to our systems or data.
  • Treat our staff and associates with courtesy and respect throughout the engagement.

6. Fees and Payment

All fees are denominated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). The indicative fees shown on this website apply to standard matters; complex or time-intensive situations may attract additional charges, which will be agreed in writing before any work proceeds.

Payment terms, methods accepted, and any disbursements (such as court filing fees) will be set out in the Engagement Letter. Disbursements are charged at cost and are separate from professional fees.

In the event that a matter cannot proceed or is withdrawn by either party, any fees payable for work already performed up to that point remain due and payable.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, design, layout, and the Zaman Legal name and mark — belongs to the Firm or its licensors. You may view and print content for your personal, non-commercial reference. You may not reproduce, republish, or redistribute website content without our written permission. Documents prepared by us for your matter remain subject to legal professional privilege and may not be shared with third parties without our consent, except as required by law.

8. Confidentiality

We take our duty of confidentiality seriously. All information you share with us in connection with your matter is held in confidence and will not be disclosed to third parties except where required for the conduct of your matter, required by law, or expressly authorised by you. Our staff and any associates engaged on your file are bound by the same obligations.

9. Disclaimers

The general information on this website is provided for reference only and does not constitute legal advice. We cannot be responsible for reliance on website content without formal engagement.

While we endeavour to keep the website accurate and up to date, we do not warrant that it is free from errors or that it reflects the very latest position of Malaysian law. The law governing estates, probate, and inheritance can change; always obtain current professional advice for your specific situation.

Legal outcomes cannot be predicted with certainty. Providing our services does not constitute a representation that any particular result will follow. Each matter is unique and depends on its particular facts, documents, and the relevant law at the time.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you arising from or in connection with the engagement is limited to the total professional fees paid to us for the specific matter in question.

We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss, including loss of profit or opportunity, arising from your use of this website or our services. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Malaysian law.

11. Termination of Engagement

Either party may end the engagement by giving reasonable written notice to the other. We may cease to act if continued representation would conflict with our professional obligations or in circumstances set out in the Engagement Letter.

Upon termination, all outstanding fees for work performed are payable. We will cooperate in an orderly handover of your file to successor advisers, subject to resolution of any outstanding fees.

12. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. In the event of any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms or our services, the parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith discussion.

If informal resolution is not reached within 30 days, either party may refer the matter to a mediator agreed between them. Should mediation fail, disputes shall be resolved through the courts of Malaysia, and both parties submit to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Complaints about our services may also be directed to the Bar Council Malaysia, which oversees professional conduct for legal practitioners.

13. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Engagement Letter where applicable, represent the full agreement between us on the matters they cover.
  • Severability: If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
  • Waiver: Failure to exercise any right under these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may engage suitable associates to assist with your matter without this constituting an assignment.
  • Changes to These Terms: We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Continued use of our website following any update constitutes acceptance.
